Self-sufficiency increases freedom

Mic Roland has been a quiet prepper for many years, even before he realized that’s what it was called.

A major step was moving his family out of the vulnerable environment of urban apartment living and into a semi-rural home where they could practice self-reliance skills.

Enduring periodic and prolonged power outages has provided opportunities to practice off-grid solutions. Mic is always looking for more ways to be self-sufficient, whether it is through wild edibles, raising his own food, pumping his own water, heating and cooking with wood or making his own maple syrup.

Mic blogs his learning experiments so others can increase their self-sufficiency skills too. He is also the author if a series of novels set in a grid-down world. His goal for the series was to highlight how ordinary people can weather a grid collapse crisis through determination and resourcefulness.
