Actually, Book 6: The Summer of Wood & Iron has been available since November of ’24. I’ve been remiss in posting here.
This book continues the series, picking up where Book 5: Critical Spring left off. Now the people of Cheshire are growing as much food as they can. This summer must produce enough food to last through the winter. No one in Cheshire wants to go through another Hunger Season.
Rather than simply trying to survive, some people in New Hampshire are trying to kick start a new economy — expanded trade beyond barter — by reviving the moribund railroad line between Lincoln, in the mountains, and Manchester, a hundred miles to the south. The railroad’s promoter, C.T. Farnum, even wants to introduce a new money based on firewood.
But, many challenges stand in the way. I think you’ll find it entertaining.
