Survey for Book 3

I have a very short survey up at FreeOnlineSurveys, asking what people would prefer for the distribution of Book 3. If you listened to the Epilogue podcast, you know the background to the questions. So, here’s the link:

If you hadn’t listened to the podcast, here is the background. Last week the last chapter of Book 2 was posted. The question is, where (or how) to start posting chapters of Book 3.

As you might guess, podcast hosting services aren’t free. In an effort to defray those costs, I’m considering a few options.

The first option would be to let Podbean insert ads into each episode. I really don’t know how much revenue ads would make. Online advertising can give pretty low returns.

A second option would to leave the episodes free, like they are now, but have each listener buy me a coffee sometime during the chapters of Book 3. Several people have “bought me a coffee” and I’m really grateful. There just hasn’t been enough coffee to cover the costs. Hence, Option 3.

A third option would be to post the chapters of Book 3 on a premium podcast channel. This could be:
A. a one-time fee for access to all of the Book 3 episodes, or
B. it could be a monthly subscription.

Book 3 has 20 chapters, so at 4 episodes a month, it would run about 5 months.

Some time after the five months, Book 3 will become an audiobook on Audible too. Since I expect that Audible will set the price for Book 3 to be $20, I figure the one-time channel cost could be $9. That way, subscribers would get the audio of Book 3 early and cheaper than the Audible product.

The monthly subscription could be around $2 a month.

I’ll be letting the survey run for a week or so (free surveys only get 14 days) to see what the listeners prefer. If you’ve got a preference, feel free to take the survey. There’s a comments area too, if you feel your preference would benefit from a bit of explanation.
